Performing Arts Chair, Music Director, Latin Instructor
BA in Religion, Philosophy, Ancient Languages, and Music, 1978 – Magna Cum Laude (Received the Alpha Kappa Sigma Award for outstanding academic achievement of the 1978 graduating class) – Roberts Wesleyan College (Rochester, New York)

Berklee College of Music, 1970-1972: majored in Arranging, Composition & Instrumental Performance (Boston, Massachusetts) Studied percussion under Alan Dawson, drummer for Dave Brubeck and Fred Buddha, percussionist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra

As Music Director, Jay arranges much of the music for the TCCA’s performances. Jay has arranged and conducted over fifty songs with 4-part harmony and instrumental accompaniment for two Christmas programs, two spring programs, as well as other performances in the community. Jay also includes alumni, faculty, and other experienced singers and musicians to perform with the High School Select Chorus. Under Jay’s direction, the High School Select Chorus achieved a prestigious silver rating in the Show Choir category at the Performing Arts Music Festival at Six Flags, New England in Agawam, MA in June of 2012. Jay also serves as the chair of the Performing Arts Committee with the main goal of expanding performing arts opportunities for all TCCA students.


Mr. MacDougall also serves as the Latin & ancient languages instructor in the High School Department and upper Elementary. Jay’s background in ancient language studies provides excellent experience for teaching this important language. In the past, Jay has tutored Greek and at one time was accepted at Brandeis University for graduate work in Hebrew. Jay believes integrating all subject disciplines as much as possible in a performance setting.
